The night before my birthday, everything was far from calm. I spent most of it nicely marinated but functional. When you're dealing with what i'm dealing with, you might want to be inebriated too. TC had calmed down from our invisible visitor that morning and was roosting quietly on my shoulder. Jason and I had retired to our bed to watch some TV. The day was filled with mysteriously falling items that were once stable on surfaces and shelves. A few times there were phantom laughs and giggles, a few pushes and hair pulls, and unfortunately the feeling of being spied on even in the bathroom. There might have been a "psst" at one point too.
We went out to eat and I tried to remain calm in public when I looked down at my fresh plate of gathered buffet food to see a bite taken out of an eggroll. I just set it to the side and watched as piece by piece, the item was eaten. Happy birthday! I'm haunted. The rest of feeding time went by without another incident. We went immediately home after eating. On the short drive to the house, we were deciding on what to do. After much deliberation, we decided to turn in early and nestle in for a long night of movie watching. Nope. That lasted about 30 minutes into Deadpool 2. The lights started to flicker and blink on and off. We started to get really hot. Wet dirt started to smell up the room again. TC puffed up like a raccoon and I could see eons in his eyes. I have tried to follow the old wives tales of red brick dust and salt at entry ways, but this was getting on my last nerve. Jason was a little peeved too. When I yelled for it to "cut that shit out", everything stopped. Literally. The clocks went dead. The power came back on. The air conditioner was happily humming in the background. The movie was paused. I was done. I vowed it loudly and proudly that if it wanted a metaphysical fight, I would have an out of body experience and beat it to second death. It was quiet for the night. Sleep, wonderful sleep.
