Our art studio moved from the bank into a new building in a new city. With a new place comes new trouble. Since we got evicted from our old building at the haunted bank from early 1900, we found a new home in another city in the same county. It's been a long process of moving and moving in. November 1st is the day we are trying to open our new building for people to come in and visit.
The new building use to be the city offices. They have since gotten a remodelled mill to move into. While they were in their old home, they had a family come in to clean it. The oldest of them is a gentleman who I will refer to as "Richard". We've gotten to talk to him several times and one particular time, we conversed about ghosts. Jason showed him and another lady a video of a baffling event. We regaled stories of the old place and the strange goings on that would happen weekly. We were told and I quote, "Y'all are young, so let me tell you about black people. If its haunted, we ain't going to find out what it is. In fact, we're going home and forgetting all about it." Richard is a 68 year old man who enjoys reading comic books and driving a beautiful old school black Impala. (It is mouthwateringly beautiful.) One thing we did notice is how whenever we were there, they would try to be out just before 6pm. They never lingered, they never tarried. They would abruptly cut conversations short and be out just before 6. I understand that quitting time and no overtime is to do just that, but even in the new establishment, they have stayed over the 6pm line. Since we have spent more time in the place after 6 pm, a few things have been noticed. Jason and I have found ourselves stalking to empty rooms, thinking there was someone in them. I have had one sided conversations thinking Jason was in his studio while I was in mine. He was actually outside. I've started listening to the sounds the building makes. It is one building with several additions to create a much larger structure. With foot and a half thick walls for some of the studios, the structure and foundation should already be settled. The HVAC system is loud, but its industrial so the sounds it makes are normal. The sound of rain on a metal roof is loud and deafening, but it is still normal. We've stopped conversations thinking someone was walking outside of our space and we went to invite them in. No one was there. Another artist and myself have moved out of the way to let someone pass when we were the only two in the place. I have no idea what new can of worms I have walked into, but Good Golly Miss Molly will it be exciting to find out!
